In my first research experience, as an undergrad student in a cell bio lab, I learned molecular cloning, Western blot, and microscopy-related techniques, which turned out to be quite useful. My research now focuses on DNA repair and genome instability. I like the excitement of making discoveries — that is what initially sparked my interest in science, what I like most about it today, and ultimately why I wanted to become a scientist. I chose to pursue a PhD at Gerstner Sloan Kettering so I could continue to do science in the future. More than a school, GSK is like a family to me. The attention students get, both academically and administratively, is truly special.
